Why postcards work for painters

Painting is another highly visible trade — once one house on the block is repainted, the homes on either side start thinking about it. A category-exclusive postcard mailed to the same route captures that referral wave at scale. You get the one job, the neighbors see the truck, and your card is already in their kitchen when they decide they want theirs done too.

Timing matters. Exterior demand spikes April through September. Interior demand runs year-round with a bump before holidays (October–November) as homeowners prepare for guests. Mail two to three weeks ahead of each wave. Because painting estimates require an in-person visit, the offer on the card should lead on the visit (free estimate, free color consult) rather than on a dollar discount.
